I was so excited to be in Cornwall this weekend! I stayed in a lovely Airbnb rental in Newlyn that looked down over the harbour. I have lots of swim plans for the weekend, but this evening I decided just to go down to the bit of beach that I could see from the apartment window.
It was low tide and the sun had gone to bed but there were a few local people around, who told me it was safe to swim here. They said that sometimes a seal comes by, but they had only seen one at this location when it was windy. My only company in the water today was two young mum’s who said they were having a stress-relieving evening swim after a busy week and a beautiful swan.
The Newlyn Tidal Observatory is located on the pier which is where the benchmark for measuring tides in the UK is calculated from.
