New Year’s Eve 2021 was the warmest on record.
My swim thermometer recorded the water at about 11.4ºC and the air temperature at around 14ºC. I had visited HIve beach at Burton Bradstock, during the day, one of my favourite places to swim in the summer months. The sea there was too rough for swimming today though, but the waves were exhilarating to watch as they crashed on the shore.

It was a foggy and grey day, but just as I got into the water in Portland Harbour, the sun broke through the clouds, just enough for me to see it setting on the last day of 2021.
Bravo Sandy.
