The sun was just setting when I managed to get into the sea today. I had hoped to get to Weymouth a bit earlier, but heavy traffic meant I was later than planned. This was a chilly Friday swim in an easterly wind and for the first time, my thermometer recorded the water temperature below 9℃. I swam for about 10 minutes in a wintery Portland Harbour. I loved seeing the sky tinged with pink, but missed the sparkly sea that lights up when the sun is higher.
A quick and easy supper was needed, and I had planned to cook a simple recipe from a new cookbook that my daughter gave me for Christmas. Sea and Shore by Emily Scott has some fabulous quick ideas, and tonight it was her Cornish Crab Linguine with chilli lemon and parsley that was on the menu. It was simple and delicious and the crab that I had purchased in Waitrose was from a company that began in Newlyn, Cornwall. This was matched perfectly with a bottle of Muscadet from my favourite wine merchant in Dorchester, Morrish and Banham.
